Mission Statement

Los Angeles Bankruptcy Attorney Alik Segal:
I created BankruptcyFortress.com to educate Americans about their rights under bankruptcy law, including the right to get rid of dischargeable debts and the right to reduce most monthly payments to a reasonable level.
However, understanding one's rights under bankruptcy law is of little use to people who are ashamed to use them. In fact, to file for bankruptcy is to say to the creditor, with dignity and without fear,
I AM A HUMAN BEING. I HAVE IMPORTANT HUMAN NEEDS, AND CREDITORS MUST RESPECT THEM.
The truth is that if the shoe was on the other foot, the banks would file bankruptcy in a heartbeat. Of course banks don't have to file bankruptcy because the government bails them out in cash.
Sadly, too many Americans deny life's necessities--food, shelter and medicine--to themselves and their children--while paying dischargeable debts. I am committed to righting this injustice through bankruptcy law.
Even with the recent (2005) changes American bankruptcy law remains the most humane and generous in the world--and other countries are beginning to follow our lead.
